Engineering and Business Leader
Zhuming Smith is a seasoned engineering and business leader with a strong dedication to service and community impact. As Founder & President of Apex Signs & Graphics, Inc. since March 2016, she has steered the Lake Bluff, Illinois–based company to success through her sharp leadership in project execution, design innovation, and client relations.
Before launching Apex, Zhuming served as Technical Director and Director of Engineering & Project Management at Eirich Machines, Inc., leading complex engineering projects and process improvements. Prior to that, she worked with United Conveyor Corporation, rising from engineer to engineering manager as she honed her expertise in systems design and product development.
Results-Oriented Approach
Zhuming earned her MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Science from Tongji University, equipping her with not only technical acumen but also strategic business insights. She is certified in project management and recognized for her methodical, results-oriented approach to delivering signage, vehicle wraps, and display graphic solutions.
Community & Volunteer Initiatives
In addition to her professional work, Zhuming is deeply involved in community and volunteer initiatives. She volunteers with local business mentorship organizations in Lake County, offering pro bono guidance on brand development and operational planning to small businesses.
Zhuming also dedicates time helping at nonprofit events, contributing to environmental cleanup projects, creating signage for community causes, and striving to use her industry knowledge for broader social benefit.
Through her roles, both corporate and personal, Zhuming combines engineering discipline, business savvy, and a passion for community to lead Apex with integrity, inspire her team, and deliver quality signs and graphics that advance clients’ brands.
